Localization Engineer
Oversees all engineering and localization engineering tasks and processes. Serves as documentation specialist. Position to be filled in our Pittsburgh, PA office.
Essential Job Duties:
- Perform engineering analysis of prospective projects using Trados
- Assist sales team with quoting of new projects
- Prepare and convert files for linguists
- Develop desktop publishing specifications and troubleshoot issues
- Assist Project Managers and Project Coordinators with file conversion and file formats
- Maintain, manage and update Translation Memory repositories
- Define and implement translation processes and strategies
- Set up and maintain project files and quality documents
- Perform QA of help files and testing
- Oversee process automation, infrastructure enhancement and tools development
- Lead in technological and tools advancement
Skills/Abilities:
- Industry experience and understanding of localization engineering processes/tools and best practices required
- Knowledge of publishing applications (FrameMaker, InDesign, Quark, PageMaker)
- Understanding of content publishing processes
- Utilizing industry standard tools and processes (e.g. Trados/TM technologies)
- Experience in executing and leading the production portion of document projects
- Analytical ability
- Problem solving skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Attention to detail
- Supervisory skills
- Knowledge of software internationalization
- Understanding of production process flow
- Understanding of linguistic and cultural issues
- Self motivation and ability to work independently, learn quickly, and work under tight deadlines
Job Qualifications
Education:
Experience:
- Two years of localization engineering experience in the localization or translation industry
